FastPack Frequently asked questions: How does the cover attach to the boom? One of the requirements of this kind of cover is that the main is loose footed. This allows us to attach the cover to the boom using the slot in the top of the spar. Most new mains built today are loose footed. If your existing main is not, we can easily loose foot the sail to accommodate the cover as part of the job. Is the cover attached to the sail? Our cover is completely independent of the sail and we feel that this is an important feature. Your main or cover can be removed at anytime for repair or maintenance without have to remove both items. This can be a great time saver. With this kind of design the cover doesn't impact on the performance of the sail. What do I do with the cover while I am sailing? Our cover can be used while sailing in two different configurations. You can unzip the cover, raise the main, slack off the lazy jacks a bit and go sailing. Or, you can raise the main, slack off the lazy jacks and pull them forward to the gooseneck, then roll each side of the cover down around the internal batten and secure the roller with the built in straps. While sailing you are left with a neatly roller cover along each side of the boom. Reverse the process when ready to lower the main. |
