Race Sails Downwind

Racing spinnakers are individually designed for each project and the racing requirements in order to provide the best possible results. Our racing sails are sized for rating or class rules optimization and materials are sourced to best suit the requirement of location and racing conditions.

Racing Symmetric Spinnakers

Our Symmetrical Race Spinnakers have four different profiles to choose from. All four provided improved performance and ease of sail trim while maximizing design, profile and area for the target conditions.

S1) Light Wind Reacher - Our lightest wind option design for sailing higher angles in search for any breeze of wind zephyrs. Shoulders are designed narrower to allow for higher angles. Built exclusively out of .5 oz with a target of 0 to 12 knots of apparent wind.

S2) All Purpose Runner - Our max size runner designed to sail as deep as possible. Designed with max shoulders and girths. Built out of .6 to .75 oz with a target of 8 to 16 knots apparent.

S3) Heavy Air Runner - Less area than the S2. Built out of 1 to 1.5 oz with larger patches and heavier leech lines.

S4) Heavy Air Reacher - Less area than the S1. Built out of 1 to 1.5 oz or heavier Nylon with larger patches and heavier leech lines.

Racing Asymmetric Spinnakers

Our range of Asymmetrical Spinnakers encompasses the Code Zero to the A5. Each of our A sails is designed for the expected wind ranges and conditions along with optimal angles for each boat and project.

Our Racing Asymmetric Spinnakers are full matrix multi panel designs. We engineer each sail using materials in woven nylon, polyester or laminate from Challenge, Contender or Dimension. Racing sails are designed and carefully measured to meet rating or class rule requirements.

Code Zero - A Light Air Asymmetrical reaching sail designed to meet the minimum definition of a spinnaker. Built using laminates specifically engineered for the loads developed by the Code Zero while at the same time minimizing weight.

A1- A Light Air Reaching Asymmetrical Spinnaker. The A1 has a reasonably flat luff and narrow shoulders to sail tight angles and improve light air performance. Built out of .5 oz or similar materials to allow the sail to fly well in very light breeze.

A1.5 - An Asymmetrical that fits the slot between the A1 and A2. Flatter and narrower than an A2 to improve light wind performance. Often the A 1.5 will have more girth and a longer luff than an A1 to allow the sail to sail deeper angles.

A2 - An All Purpose Medium Air Runner. Our most powerful sail designed for running deep. Designed with the longest luff and maximum girth allow for a handicap or rating system allowing the sail to run the deepest angles possible.. Built out of .6 oz or heavier cloth for moderate wind n moderate breeze.

A3 - An All Purpose Medium Air Reacher. The A3 complements the A2 but is flatter for better reaching angles in medium wind. Often designed as a maximum size sail for a given handicap or rating system but is the choice for reaching in medium air.

A4 - A Heavy Air Runner. Narrower girths and slightly shorter luff lengths for stability. Engineered for heavy breeze and the loads and stressed associated with those conditions.

A5 - A Heavy Air Reacher. Designed for overpowered conditions with a straight luff and a flat profile. Engineered for heavy breeze and the loads associated or to be flown for long periods of time.
